KUB's Electric System

KUB is proud to provide reliable electric service to Knox and parts of seven surrounding counties. KUB purchases power from TVA to provide service to more than 210,000 customers across 688 square miles.

Safety is at the forefront of all KUB operations. Click here to learn about electric safety.

KUB's Century II infrastructure management program works to ensure the 5,400 miles of service lines, 63 substations, and supporting equipment continue to operate according to KUB's quality standards.

In addition to infrastructure maintenance, KUB ensures reliable service through its Vegetation Management program. Since more than half of power outages are caused by vegetation, this program is key to maintaining quality service. KUB maintains more than 5,000 miles of electric line and prune along approximately 1,000 miles of that line every year.

The American Public Power Association recognizes KUB as a Diamond Level Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) because of its high proficiency in reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement.
