KUB offers various water and wastewater credits to assist customers with reducing utility costs. Customers with excess water use due to on and off season watering or water leaks may benefit from these credit offerings.

Beat the Heat with KUB's Automatic Summer Watering Credits

Summer watering credits are automatically calculated based on customer water usage between May and September. Credits will be applied from June through October to residential customer bills that meet the following criteria:

  • Customer has received service at the same address since October 1 of the previous year.
  • Customer has monthly water use that is at least fifty percent (50%) higher in the summer than the rest of the year.

If you have excessive water usage before May or after September, a credit outside the automatic summer watering credit period may be available.

Consider an Irrigation Meter for Water Used Outside

Customers can reduce wastewater charges by having KUB install an irrigation meter. With an irrigation meter, water used outside the home (for swimming pools, lawn irrigation systems, etc) will be billed separately and without wastewater charges. A monthly basic service charge will be applied based on the size of the meter. You can find more information on service charges at this link. Irrigation meters are installed by KUB. Customers will be responsible for construction fees for KUB to install a new tap to the main, meter well, horn and meter.

Note: If you connect an irrigation system or pool to your plumbing, you must have a backflow prevention device to help protect the public water supply, you can find more information at this link.

Don’t Let Leaky Pipes Drain Your Wallet

No one likes unexpected repairs – KUB customers experiencing a water leak at their home or business may qualify for credits.

Commercial and residential customers with leaks on items such as toilets, faucets and other plumbing fixtures may qualify for a 50 percent credit for usage exceeding average consumption on water and wastewater charges. Leaks occurring on service lines, water heaters, sprinkler systems or other pipes not connected to the wastewater system could be eligible for a 100 percent credit.

To qualify for a water credit, customers must have had service at the same address for at least six months and usage must be 15 times higher than average. Customers may be issued credits for consumption that exceeds 15 times their average consumption, based on proof of repair. If proof or repair is not provided within 90 days from the date of the repair, 50 percent of the credit will be given.

To qualify for a wastewater credit, customers must have had service at the same address for at least six months and usage must be 50 percent higher than average. If proof of repair is provided and the leak occurred on fixtures not connected to KUB’s wastewater system, a 100 percent credit will apply. If proof of repair is not provided within 90 days from the date of the repair, or the leak is on a fixture connected to KUB’s wastewater system, 50 percent of the credit will be given.
